hwahahahaha i had no time yesterday to write my gym record for yesterday (24/09)
Well Instead of 20 mins i jogged 30 mins.. 8.8 for first 2 laps den 9 for the rest of the time.. managed to go for 4.6 in 30 mins.. I tot that was pretty good for me wahhaha..

Den did weights for my arms.. wahhahaha small small weights nia.. 2 kg and 1 kg.. While i was doing the repetitive workout, did what i always do when i'm alone - looked around.. There were 3 girls in the gym who were carrying 6 kg with both hands.. Don't really know what are they training for.. Nearly all the other girls were accompanied by their bfs. Is this a new trend? Gf accompanying their bf to gym or bf drag gf along.. just like how girls used to drag guys along to shopping? :p But the girlfriends don't look very interested.. Doesn't that dampen the guys' mood? Hmmmzz.. No comments..
Den my thighs.. Nothing much to write about thigh work out as well wahhaha
Den i had a tough time doing my sit ups because the last time i was there, i was 'tricked' into doing inclined sit ups not knowing the seat was inclined. So i did 15 X 3... It was really bad when i tried to do it yesterday.. but i still managed a 10X3 ...

K that was my gym workout.. I guess it is very diff to keep a record since i always do the same thing. WHAhahaha except that it hurts today more than the last time...

Well, that's the end of the boring part. Here's the interesting part of my blog entry.. My pervertic neighbour(s) saga..
I have a couple of crazy neighbours, one staying a floor above us and other on 12th floor. Everything started when the 12th floor neighbour started to put their clothes out in the middle of the night without first machine-drying them.. So the excessive water would be dripping on other's, all those directly below this particular crazy family.
It is without a doubt that 11th floor got angry and so like all good singaporean who dun take law into their own hands, they complained to the Town Council. But to no avail. then some how or rather, the two families ended up in court, 11th floor lost the suit.
Any normal person would have stopped while they are ahead, but upon winning, 12th floor din stop.. Instead, they starting to pour waste water/water for mopping/rubbish water down that stretch of window every night.. (one may wonder where they get such water everday, beats me, not the topic of this paper)
This is the part where i get angry.. I mean seriously, if it is just between the two of you, den go settle it somewhere. Fight it out, either one of you get killed, end of story. Why, OH WHyyyyy must an innocent third party like ourselves suffer at the same time? Doesn't he/she know that by pouring that water down that windown, it actually goes all de way and not just stop at 11th floor?
And the best part is, this is not just it.. They even throw rubbish at our corridor, leftovers, ashes, meleon seeds shell... For what purpose i simply have no idea. Either one of them is trying to malign the other or they just want more people to join in the fun..

It is not just the physical clearing of the rubbish, cleaning of the window that is stressful. It is the nagging of my mother that is killing me. It is the feeling that they are doing all these and i have no idea what to do to stop them. It is the feeling of anger that why are they implicating us? It gets to me, and it gets to me real bad. What is wrong with this peoplE? Can't they think straight? Don't they have any other things to do? Don't they have any sane person in the family that can stop them from doing such things? I don't understand at all. When you come home at the end of the day, you still have to be pissed off with such things, how would you feel? I mean i don't mind never knowing my neighbour for as long as i stay here, i'd rather never have to say hi until the day that i die. I don't need to talk to them. Are these people so bored at home that they must do such a thing to get their neighbours talking to them? Even quarrelling is a form of communication to them now.. That no one is giving them attention, therefore they need such attention from people staying around them? HELLO?????

I'll be watching. i'll be watching my corridor closely at night.. If they ever, ever get caught by me, they'll wish that they never had such stupid thoughts in the first place...

well well well, i guess i got a little too emo on my last entry.. today i promise a more chirpy me... After that entry, i had fever the next day. Depression and lack of sleep and sleeping in a cold room on the floor, not a good mix at all. Please don't try it at home.
Had a little time to myself yesterday after my tuition. Made a few plans but din work out, so i went to the gym myself at 845pm. To many guys out there, it might seem as normal as breathing. But i guess the female population won't agree with that. Whenever i told people i watch movies alone, swim alone, etc, i have only one respond "Wah! You go alone ah?? Not weird meh?" Is it suppose to feel weird? I'm not too sure.. I guess it is too difficult to arrange for a troop of people to march to the gym, swimming pool and what not. You have people who ask "who's going", people telling you "don't want lah, we go ... instead", people saying "too far".. everything except an immediate "Ok! Time and place". And all these gets to me, actually spoils my mood to do what i set out to do. Moreover, when you do these things, you don't really interact with your friends whether they are there or not.. Lastly, it is because i don't do these things on a very regular basis, only when i have some time to spare away from my relationship commitment, used to be such. So it is more difficult to find people, because the timing might be weird, or too impromptu for anyone to be able to fit it into their schedule.. Therefore i don't even bother..
Relationship bring with it certain obligations for me.. I realised that i tend to give my other half all the priority in the world when it comes to my schedule. So much so that my plans would be subjected to his. And if he doesn't do much, we'll end up seeing each other for long period everyday, which i can assure you, isn't healthy at all. Hence i'm still getting used to managing my schedule according to my own likings.. Not because a certain him is not free, therefore i go dinner with my friend. Not because he is free, therefore my schedule shld be freed up for him.. This is call "losing yourself in a relationship".. That is one of the reason why people break up..
You no longer recognize yourself as an individual, don't have your own style, your own diary, your own friends, your own time, etc.. Being a couple doesn't mean you have to become that person you love. It might sound obvious, but it is a mistake that most people make at the start of the relationship.. and then it becomes too late to turn back..

Anyway, i've made a promise to myself, to start myself off, i'll go to gym regularly.. 3 times a week minimum. And to keep a record of it in my blog such that i'll be disciplined about it. :D
Gym(22/09/06)
i did 20 mins of jogging - i always just press the quick start because i have no idea how to work the machine (i'm refraining from calling the machine stupid because i guess it is me who is dumb...) so it will be a 20 min jog. whahah but i try to increase the speed.. started to 8.5 then 8.8 after 2 laps. Den at 17 min i increased to 9.5 because i wanted to complete 3k in 20min.. But din work even when i added to 10.5 for last 2 mins. 2.97km.. Damn, till my next session.
(this is not a primary schl mathematic question btw)

Den i asked the instructor how do i slim down my arms (bye bye bye-bye-arms)
He taught me the correct way to use weights, the exercises that work different muscles in my arm.. So i did my 3 reps of 14 (he told me to start with 14!!) for each hand and each muscle. wahahhahaha

And then to my thighs (Bye bye billard table legs)
Mr Instructor showed me how to use the 3 machines for thigh.. First was for the front thigh (the name has proven too difficult for my non-sports trained brain), second was the the back of it.. and...For the last machine, when i asked him which part of musle is the machine training, he very humourously replied "leg lah"...Make me look like idiot but since he had taught me some stuff, i shld respect him. And also because he is pretty old.(Not typo, No comma, i don't mean pretty as in good looking) Anw, did my 3 reps on the machines as well..

Then i did some sit ups and i left!!!! whahaha all that took about 1hr+++ and cost me $3.50. Normal price is $2.50 per entry, but i forgot to bring towel.. so i had to buy it at 1 buck!! Nice blue towel thou :D Good buy!!! muahaha

Oh did i mention, mr funny instructor suggested i go back 3 times a week. hahah he is really very nice but don't really know how to relate to people. Doesn't know how to be friendly because always avoiding eye contact if he is standing around doing nothing just to avoid saying hi or something. Very awkward character but nice. whahaha

Next session: Sunday 24/09/06 - before or after my tuition..

Some time for myself.. Emo is the word of the day.. I have been pretty emo for the past two days. For those of you who have no idea, emo means emotional.. Don and Damien came up with it.. haha Used to call Don - Emo Don.. Like a japanese delicacy.. But be warned that it isn't pleasant when donnie is emo.. wahahha.. It is never a good thing when someone is emo..
Talking about them just brings back so much memories.. I've known them for almost three years now.. We shared our most embarrassing moments, they had been there for my worst times, whether they know i'm going thru such a time or not.. They were there to laugh at me, laugh with me, taught me some really good lessons.. Took care of me, worried about me.. We've been through some of the craziest times i've ever had in my life.. The little girl in the group, whom they have no idea why on earth am i mixing with old men like them..

Just as i felt i cannot get anymore complicated, cannot be anymore jaded and skeptical.. I now look back and count myself then a happier and simpler girl then... Issues that used to be so clear back then, principles that seems to be so straight forward last time, no longer applies. You try to rationalise, you try to balance it out by doing something else so as not to feel as guilty as u should.. You don't wish to be the 'bad guy', but u are, to any outsider looking at the situation, there isn't a doubt..
So you try ways and means to convince urself, by doing something else, by saying this other thing, you are trying to better the situation. Telling urself with or without ur involvement, things would have turned out this way, in fact worst...

Alvin commented that there is a huge gap between how i act and the kind of things i think about.. In front of them, i always joke and laugh.. I feel happy, at that moment, sincerely happy with the company, with the stupid things that everyone does. But seriously, how much do they really know me? and how much do i know them? Is it better not to know each other so well? Or is it too superficial a friendship?

I guess to anyone reading, you must be thinking that i'm really lost. Lost in life, lost the plot...
Lost because i no longer believe in putting in too much effort.. Everything is temporary, nothing is permanent, friendship, relationship.. Human and human interaction is too difficult to predict.

"You've got to be cruel, to be kind..." - The Hardest thing, 98 degrees.
Finally experience what it really mean after hearing it since my secondary school years..

Typing in the dark in my bedroom, listening to songs.. Perfect for writing a blog but i have no idea what to write. Completely lost the plot in my life, my studies. Don't know what am i doin, losing the discipline to do anything to advance myself.

I have a presentation tomorrow.. I have not read all the cases that we'll use, i don't even know what am i going to say tomorrow.. Partly because we have not assigned the parts. Also because i din do much research on my own.. I can just feel the lack of preparation..

Everything is becoming a toll... Everything else. Pardeep was right, i will never learn independence like that.. Just like learning how to ice-skate but keep on holding on to the side rims..

rahhh i dunnoe wat to say.. sleeping time.. Must sleep from 1 to 6 am den go joggin !!! i wanna be discipline too!!!! :D

Either the "love" that can conquer all doesn't exists or the concept of "love" doesn't exists... Haha...the past is coming back to haunt me.. Expecting that day to come, when the sky will come crashing down on me again.. The day when guilt will drown me.. That day when i'll be paralysed with the fear of crushing another's life.. The day when i'll come last in someone else's life, and drop the second things aren't right.. The self protection mechanism is already working, i'm backing off.. I cannot afford to wreck another person's life, i cannot afford to be drop again.. Because i already lost a piece of myself the last time, the most important piece in any relationship - faith...

Anyhow, am really disappointed with friendship as well.. the "very onz" friends that i made recently aside, i think about the friends that i made in the past.. I just get so demoralised.. Although i keep telling myself i shouldn't expect too much from others, i should expect more from myself. As long as i'm here for them, i shldn't expect them to do the same..

Mayb it is pms.. But i really feel the pinch.. It is like i've wasted two years of my life in that freaking school.. All the brothers, all the time spent together meant nothing. No bond, no memories... I'm plain dumb, should have known it when none of them turned up at my 21st chalet..

Yesterday while i listen to my fren's recollection of how drunk he was at his 21st bday, i couldn't help but feel jealous.. Jealous not because i didn't get drunk. But his frens told him "if you are drunk, i'll make sure you get home safely".. What about me? I spent my bday telling my frens that no one was staying for my chalet. Almost to the extent of begging people to stay. Crying at the cold storage while preparing for the chalet... Even my godbrother for almost 7 years couldn't make it to my party...

nv been there for them? din do enough? Selfish? Mayb i really din do a good job as a friend.. I guess this kind of experience will stay with you throughout your life, worse than any kind of hurt a break up can bring you.. It is a testimony of your character, the way you do things..

if not for a few really good friends still existing in my life, i guess i really would have given up on the concept of friendship.. Getting more and more deluded by this bond among people... So fragile, so pathetic, so non-existence.

Have i wasted the past 21 years? Is my life only starting now?
hey hey hey!!!! Been a while. Haven have the time to update anything except uploading some pictures that i've taken.. din do much. except going back to adss for teachers day, did some part time work on friday and went to sentosa on saturday.

Teachers day at Adss was pretty fun. Had farewell for one of the practicum teachers at Hans near upp thompson road.. many lame jokes... I can't really remember what transcend that day because i was very very tired throughout the day. Had to give tuition at 7pm that day even! And after which i went to meet them again.. Was pretty drain by the end of the day.. :p Wat's more i couldn't rem most of the things i said hahaha

The part time job was a last min stand in for someone else.. it had a really slow start, 1 hour of briefing... Half an hour of 'waiting for GOH', which in fact was really standing around doing nothing.. Things only started going when public starting streaming in, telling them about the exhibits etc. Actually it was pretty interesting job for me, cos instead of working i was walking around, looking at the exhibits myself, asking plenty of questions, taking a few name cards for myself ;p hahaha The best part was teaching little kids how to make 'book butterfly', some craft work which applies sci knowledge. At the end of which, the butterfly was suppose to 'fly'.. I was surprised at how good the kids were at receiving instructions. words like "loop, put both legs of your metal stick into the straw, pull it out from the other end, etc" Almost all of them can follow my instructions, which of cos made my job easier.. :d on the whole, really enjoyed myself there. I seriously think i cant do a deskbound job.. I need interaction with people..

Went sentosa yesterday.. :p "to see and be seen" according to my law fren. But seriously, i was looking at people all the time, doubt anyone was looking at me thou. LOL Though i couldn't play vball very well, kind of enjoyed the game. I guess i'll have to take it more seriously next time i go. :p got scolded for being nua. hahahahah And i got my islander temp card!!! Heezzz Power.. so people, sentosa anytime!!!

Anyhow, need to go sleep.. gotta wake up early to STUDY TML!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! damn. yes, i am having semester right now... not holidays.... I miss my 3 months holidays...

HAhahah a 4 hour badminton session with adssians!!! Super tiring but fun!!! We must do this more often k? Mayb we play in adss' free court and now we've payed for the shuttles den might as well make full use of it :)

Anyhow, i had a great great great day yesterday, albeit tiring. It happened so fast, just zoomed past me. Two things that made it less perfect, i couldn't really catch up at my hip hop class and the dance floor at MOS-Smoove was too packed to do any decent dancing...

Rahzzz... Need to go print my notes and clean the house before another happening day starts again..

Hey hey hey!!!!
Coach a small group of girls hip hop for a small time competition and they got third!!! It really feels different to sit there and watch them dance on stage... Even though it wasn't perfect, perfection wasn't what i wanted to see. As much as i complain it was difficult to help them, i was very very pleased and happy to see what i saw.. Them putting into practise what i've said. A combination of my minimum coaching, their hardwork and their creativity.. It was rewarding and i guess that is what 'Paid by passion' means...

Was offered to go back to relief teach on my free days and i took it up. So on tues and fris, whenever they need relief teachers, i'll be on top of the list. :p I wonder if that's a good thing. I still need time to study!!!

Anyway i've got to go out soon, a power packed day today. Badminton, dance, clubbing. :) Will upload the pictures if there is any!!!

signing off..

"A man can kill and still be the sweetest person..." -Buses and Trains (Bachelor Girls)
There's no logic to love someone, it isn't math, one plus one might not give you two.. When it comes to matters of the heart, the brain takes a backseat. No matter how difficult it is for the bystanders to understand why are you involved with this person, to you, it may be the most natural thing in the world.
The person may not even treat you well now, but you continue to hang on with the hope that the past memories will come back again. All that was shared between the two of you, others cannot and will never understand.

Today's entry is dedicated to a dear friend of mine:

Dude,
There isn't right or wrong anymore, but you know you don't want to continue hurting yourself. I told you before, if it makes you happier to continue, you should go ahead. But when everything is becoming a toil, then there no longer is a point to it, am i right?
It actually hurts that people who are closest to you, what you are doing right now. I feel a sense of helplessness, not knowing how to help you, because you refuse to help yourself. On one hand, i know i should let you be, sooner or later you'll walk out of it and all i can do is listen. On the other hand, i cant help but wonder where is the guy that i know three years ago? That guy with a strong character, who din give two hoots about the world... I guess maturity comes at a price...
But you know what? We're going to stand by you no matter how stupid you are now, alright? You'll definitely walk out of it and it is your choice how long tt's going to be. And at the end of it all, i'll take this out in the future to laugh at you !!! hAHahh You know i will do that :)

Take good care dude. Buzz me some time

Finally found a song that really describes how i feel right now or maybe some time later..

When i see her anxious face, so afraid that my dad would find out that i returned home late yet again, I felt a sense of guilt.. Something that i haven felt for a long time, or perhaps something that i tried to brush aside for the longest time. I guess even though i hate the control they're exercising on me, i have to oblige.. I'm bowing down because i don't want them to quarrel because of me. Because i don't want mom to be in that difficult position, to help me cover up and worry for me at the same time.. Because i know they love me.

I really have no idea what has gotten into me. I want to be out there, to play, to enjoy the company of my friends so much. I want to forget about what is it to be the old me. To be someone that is more energetic, see more things, laugh about things.. to have a more exciting life before it is all over. Before i have to say "okie destiny, take control of my life" "work, here i come" "goodbye sleep". Before i have do more of what they expect of me and less of what i want to do. Before i have to get married, work and lead a boring life like the rest of those who were borned a few years earlier than me right now...

I guess everything that i'm doing, is sort of my way of saying "I refuse to conform like the rest of them" To be in a relationship, as long as the guy is passable, then wait a few years to get married and get a HDB flat. Then give birth to a kid before i'm 30 years old.. Afterwhich, every little bit of love between the couple will be used up, all the attention will be on the child and how to finance the family.. The love between the couple stop developing, they become more like relatives than lovers.. Sex becomes a ritual, or an avoidable topic. Dating means diapers and milk bottle. Weekends become in-laws-days. Everyday talk about what school to send the baby, what tuition the kid needs, how much are the bills, dad's birthday is here again...

It scares me... Or perhaps what i don't know actually is the most scary. I forgot how does it feel to love someone so much you wanna marry him/her. How long has it been? 3 years? Or maybe i'd rather not ever to meet someone like that again, or someone who makes me feel like that again.. The one and only time i truly felt i've found that someone.. Maybe i was naive, still fill with fantasy about 'love'... Maybe it was real. I'd never know :D

What i am doing now, i have no idea. For the fun, for the time, for i'm still young.. I do not have a good explanation. I refuse to stay in line, i don't want to be proper. because at the end of the day, all that you've give, it wont be rewarded. Now is what you have, what you can be sure of.

The old cycle.. Boy meets girl, girl meets boy. Boy likes girl, go after her with flowers and movies, tell her he loves everything about her. Girl start to like boy, they got together. Boy starts to complain about everything the girl was before and more, but they hold on still. Until they decided it is too difficult to continue... 3 times of this is enough.

If i already know the outcome, at least i can fully enjoy the process without worrying about it. Tt's why.

Too many late nights recently has resulted in cold treatment from a few of my family members, daddy especially. I really wonder why is it such a big deal when it comes to me? My sisters can stay out the whole night and still be fine, while i receive at least 3 miss calls and 2 sms from them. I know they care about me, and i can't seem to put my finger on why i feel so strongly against it. Or perhaps it is a post adulthood rebellious phrase. :p

Or perhaps i just can't be bothered to please them anymore? I remember telling my mom one day "You always telling me about what you like me to do, you ever wondered if i like to do it?" Just because she doesn't like me doing it, does it mean i shouldn't be doing it? Well, granted that she has her reasons for feeling against it, but i can judge for myself, right? I mean i'm living my life, not a continuation of her life. I need to experience it myself, to know that fear, right? Stupid but this is life. Detour but that's why life is exciting! If you always simply listen to how travelling is dangerous, would you know that the world out there is so big and wonderful?

I guess for one period in your life, you need to do all you can, play all you can, live your life, do all the crazy things. Don't give yourself any chance to regret once you becomes immobile, etc. I wanna walk out of the days when i sit there and listen to my frens' exciting lives when they were younger. I want to be able to contribute, to be able to find such a group of friends, that when i'm 30, i still see them. Hang around and talk about the good old days or even having fun then!

That's about it.. Need to go back to studying.. As much as i wanna play, still gotto graduate :P

Love Y'all!

Sch just started yesterday. Had my first two seminars of the semester.. Pretty fun but my day ended at 930PM!!!! That aside, it feels good to be studying what you have chosen instead of those compulsory modules. Plenty of fun, claire came to crash my class (prob not because of me...)i dozed off in class for the first half an hour, and counting down to 930.. HAHAHA I had to turn to caffeine for help. There is a reason why they put coffee vending machine along the corridors.. My very sweet lecturer decided to let us off 1 hour earlier on our first day, and half an hour early for all subsequent lessons.. Now dat's what i call a caring teacher. :p

Well, the 1 hour early release din really help, since i was meeting a friend at 930pm. So i sat in sch cafeteria with a not-so-close friend, waiting as the cleaners stacked all the chairs and tables around us up..

Anyhow, my new campus is still renovating. I'm going to die of inhaling too much dust very soon.. But i like it, even though we're using the most modern building there. HAhahah The trees, the buildings, the grass just make everything better. So much better that i'm going back to school today even though i have no lessons. No lah, i'm not tt crasy. I need to go back to photocopy my readings :p HAHAHA

LAter people. Love yall.

oH NO!!!! sleepless night... Gonna be a panda tml when i go sunset bay tml :O

Hahahah my friend told me to update my blog more often, but that definitely is not the reason why i'm here blogging.. Sleepless because i've tot a new business idea that i feel is very viable.. :p Hence the excitement.. You know the kind of feeling when the ideas start rushing to your head? You think about everything and anything that concerns the potential venture, the people to approach, the questions to ask, even the kind of uniform for your employees.. Darnz, this is getting out of hand..

Btw, i sprained my ankle yesterday (technically it was the day before yesterday since it is alr 6am in the morning...) yeapppp.. stupid me simply fell on my own while playing bball with my friends. Actually i wasn't really playing, just making a fool of myself, but they were very nice people who continued to entertain me :p hahaha. And if you guys were wondering, NOpe, i did not sprain my ankle on purpose just to get out of the game.. Hahaha Lousy as i am, i still wanna play. Otherwise, how am i going to improve?

Other than the stupid fat ankle, that has earned my a new nickname, zhu jiao rong (pig leg rong).. I was confined to my house so that i will be well enough to go sentosa today. My good friends actually brought lunch to my house!!!!! *touched... (tears rolling down my cheek)
Dudes, i'll never forget the duck rice, long gan drink and orange, even though the latter two were on the house (haha literally, taken from my house but served by them :D)

The best part was that even though i couldn't join them for the cycling trip, with or without my ankle (because i have no bike...), hahaha it was actually arranged for me to have dinner with them before the trip and supper after the trip.. There was a lorry to pick me up after tuition! *sob sob* they make my closest friends before them look like acquaintances eh.. no offence :p Jus an analogy.. K perhaps it is just me. Maybe everyone has such good friends, i have been a hermit..

School is starting on monday.. To everyone and anyone who cares, I have lessons only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. TT's right, i have a so-called three-day week. But i doubt it is desirable.. i might simply waste the two days off away, and wake up one day and find that i'm going to be a law sch drop out :p Hmmmm but anyway, i've got all my first choices of electives.. Which seems to be a sign that lady luck is finally smiling at me since i joined law sch. I suspect it is the change of campus to bukit timah? I probably shld stay at bukit timah if i buy a house next time.. Good feng shui for me. :D Then again, i won't know how good i like it there until the term is over. Better not speak so early :(

Hmmm, what else do i wanna talk about other than i cannot sleep? *looks around* oh yeah, it seems to be the "break up" season now.. Many of my friends have broken up, mostly guys.. Okie, that didn't sound right. Let me rephrase, most of my guy friends have broken up, but i'm sure there was an equal number of girls who broke up.. Hahaha.. One of them is even proclaiming that he wishes to stay single for the next 5 years.. makes me wonder about myself. Just the other day, i actually had a feeling i'll simply stay single for the rest of my life ;)

Reason? Simple, it is too troublesome to get into a relationship, get used to another person, otherwise break up. The meaning of relationship is becoming more and more blur to me. Funny how it was so clear when you started your first relationship? but as time goes by, the more relationships you have, the less clear why are u getting into a relationship? Again, perhaps it is just me.. Relationship doesn't have a meaning anymore. Marriage is no longer a must in this era.

Someone ever questioned me, "Why do people get married?" For companionship? To carry on the family name? So that you have support when you grow old? Social pressure? Or love?
The first 4 can't really persuade me... Companionship - just because you are afraid of being alone, you wanna tie urself down? Why not get a dog.. at least a dog wont fight with you over the remote. Family name - doesn't apply here.. I doubt my husband will let our kids take my surname.. Security - I have CPF remember? PAP has arranged it for me alr, my beloved mother has also made known that the flat will be left for the spinster.. Social pressure - See no evil, hear no evil..

Well well well, as for love. Wat is it about love that two persons have to tie the knot instead of simply being together? U want him to "belong" to you "forever"? I guess love can also be used against marriage. If there is "forever-love" then what is the point of tying the knot legally? By putting the ring on his/her finger, there seems to be a sense of insecurity, that perhaps love isn't strong enough to keep him/her by ur side..

Yeap, skewed, extreme, cynical, skeptical, jaded. I can't deny those are what i am at the moment. But no, i'm not speaking with sacarsm. After a few years in marriage, the couple becomes more like family love than romantic one. When love becomes just care and concern, can i handle that?

unlike my friend, i shall not predict what will happen in the next 5 years. The only thing i know is that right here, right now i wanna enjoy myself. Be happy now, the present is what i can see, hear and touch.

We'll worry about the me in the future when future comes around :D

Guys, life will only get better from here k?

YoYoYo,
People, finally i'm back blogging again :D
Lol, this must be the ten thousandth time i'm saying this, but i'm going to say it anyway "doubt anyone is reading this"

Heezzz Jus uploaded a couple of pictures taken of my kakees in ADSS!! Great pals who run with me, play table tennis, eat lunch, drink coffee and lots more stuff to come!! The ice cream picture was taken today when i took MC from school. They have very kindly sent me the picture so that i wont feel so left out :p Darn. I want my ice cream too!!!

was a good day today. Slept at home for half a day then went to meet a long lost fren from JC.. Funny how after all this time, we still have things to talk about. Talked about mutual friends, our lives now, the world.. Pretty depressing stuff, but still, i'm glad i'm slowly finding my friends back :)

Ever wondered how one's values actually changes as one grows older? Many things become dispensible, your sense of right and wrong actually changes.. no longer is it black or white, love or hate. There comes a time when you realise there is a wide spectrum between the two extremes, and you're always hanging there, in the middle.

Rather, you start to tell urself doing certain things isn't as bad as it seems. Reasoning it, giving urself excuses to go ahead to do it... Trying very hard not to be the bad person that you know very well u are.

I guess i'm not making sense to anyone out there :p

Later Peeps.

Whoever that did that research which concluded that there ought to be no corporal punishment on students, obviously did not try to teach English to a bunch of 40 NT students. For those of you who have yet heard, I took up a relief teaching job at one secondary school. It has successfully confirmed that I was in delusion all these while. All the "teaching - changing lives", etc etc...

Being a teacher, you are forced to be nasty to the kids. Otherwise, they'll be pushing you over. Even when you want to punish them, they dun give a damn about you. "You, why are you walking around without permission! Stand at the corner" "Cher, why? Dunwan la, dunwan la, dun la cher" is a typical exchange between my students and I in class.

Teaching English has only added to the difficulty in maintaining discipline and image in front of the students. Being a relief teacher, i was merely told of the components of a NT paper and provided with some assessments to refer to. What to teach, how to go about it, was entirely up to me. My colleague who was there for the 1 month exp before entering NIE commented that "You are more like a full time teacher than those who are here for practicum." Hence, the lack of training and direction, I chose to let them practice on their assessment books. Which proved a disaster as they chit chat away in my lesson, sleep, walk around. I guess they only time when they are in complete silence is when my principal walk pass the class.

By the third day, i sent the whole class marching down to the general office. They din do much, but i guess it was time to tell them that i mean business. Even though on the way down, i have several students pleading with me not to go down, when they were downstairs, the same students were cracking jokes as i talked to them. I think give them a few more times downstairs, they'll walk out of the school right in front of me..

It has been a tough week, thinking of how to outwit them/ tamed/ gain their respect. But it is easier said than done. It is so bad that i'm beginning to question myself, how have i conducted myself to receive such treatment from the students. Except letting them do worksheets, i don't have much idea of what to do. Neither do they listen when i go through the worksheets..

With all that said and done, i guess some of them are still nice albeit mischievious. Like one of the most notorious kid in my class, he actually tried doing my work even though it was with much help from me. He still creates a din in class, make some noise, does funny things but i am still able to tolerate it. A few others who are touched by my gesture of providing them with fullscape paper.

And of cos, my sec 1 NT class. Initially they were so noisy, but somehow during mid-week, they started listening to me. That was quite a lovely experience.

1 eventful week which has ended with loads of marking and papers to prepare. Kind of looking forward to what can i do next week with them.. At the same time, having the pressure of stepping into that notorious class again.. The contradictions in life..

so many things happened since sch ended but i really din feel like sitting in front of the comp and listing them down.. Partly because i dun have the patience and also because i noe not many people are interested. :p hahaz I guess i still prefer to whine by talking face to face instead of through blogs... Good old traditional me. ;p

Well first and foremost, i was hired and fired within a span of three weeks. All i can say is that admin job hates me, my supervisors too.. Being meticulous is something i'll never be acquainted with.. Not even slightly. and from the comments of my guy friends - i need to go army to learn how to lobo (Act busy). My supervisors felt that i was stressing them out because i kept asking them for work to do.. So many things happened there that i don't wanna spend my time typing them here... Just hate a job which has a supervisor treating you as machine or a non-living thing by not even acknowledging your existence outside of the cubicle; always telling me that they're too busy to give me something to do; giving vague instructions...
I'm at fault too lah sometimes. But i still maintain that my biggest mistake is not knowing how to look busy. Darn..

Yeap, even though i was sacked, i had a superb weekend.. Went to venn's chalet on friday night.. Took so many silly photographs, saw so many ex-sn girls whom i've lost contact with and got to know venn's friends who were pretty entertaining.. din sleep much thou cos i was made to sleep in between to beds which were joined together.. Woke up bright and early to eat breakfast and lost money at the mj table to venn's friend.
ahhaha Den my busy saturday began.. Met my lil aunt for lunch and manicure.. afterwards i went for my dance class and then i met chinwan & shannon to go junhong's house for overnight mj session..
And i lost all my chips and had deficit summore at the end of that session... Lucky jh told us to take the money and take cab home :p anyhow qt paiseh for not paying him.. guess will have to treat him a meal someday.

And aft that mj session, i came back ys bk to eat breakfast with my yj friendS!!!! hahahaha just talk crap in bk as usual... a lot of catching up and more army stuff but it was good to finally meet up :D

So now i highly deprived of sleep and almost going to KO...

Till i wake up...

When they say the MPs represent us in the Parliament, they are suppose to speak for us. Yawning Bread actually counted the average number of times our dear PAP MPs spoke up and those by the Opposition MPs.

Perhaps the number of times they spoke cannot be conclusive, but it is indicative of their sincerity at serving us...

Do take the time to read the link..

Couple of sites which give us a break from Channel News Asia, Straits Times and any SPH coverage...

No one can be neutral in politics, either you agree or you disagree. But they never said you cannot agree with some and disagree with others. At the end of the day, you choose the one whom you disagree least... yeah?

Singapore publishers need to wake up and grab these bloggers and make a book.. I'll pay double what i did for Harry Potter!!!

"I don't care you want to vote for PAP or Opposition Party or yourself, vote is belong to you one. You want to vote the super elite scholar PAP member who backside can come out one new lift for your house, vote him. You want to vote blur fuck opposition who cannot fill form, vote him. You want to vote steady lau cheow opposition like Low and Chiam, vote him. Vote is yours one. It is the only thing in Singapore that can still say is belong to yours one (your HDB flat also not belong to yours one). " Wise words from Rockson

Also if you'd like to watch opposition rallies you may want to visit SGRally

I shan't comment on the Gomerz flop, nor the LUP (life upgrading program), whether it should be free, whether we ought to have it, whether the govt should have made them stop on every floor in the first place, i don't care about the NKF saga part III (elections issue). What i have to share, is a personal experience and thoughts of what transpired after the nomination day. No support for any parties, no playing of politics here, i am not even eligible to vote...

Facts:
Right after the Nomination Day, when it was announced that SDP will contest for the Sembawang GRC, it was the following day when my exams ended. All was normal until i started my ascend up to the 11th floor to the lift lobby (yes, my HDB flat has no upgraded lifts even though for 17 years it was under PAP's care). I notice a bad smell, sort of like vomit mixed with paint. Vomit - i probably can understand, my block people is known for crapping everywhere, from the lifts to the lobby to the staircases. Paint is something i cannot comprehend, because it has been a few years since they repainted the almost brown/greyish interior public walls of the flat. Also, i didn't notice any signs of fresh paint on my floor anyway.

As i emerged at the top of the steps on the 11th floor, i notice something entirely different. The bright reflection from the freshly painted walls nearly blinded me. the brownish/greyish walls were long gone, the white wall stood in stark contrast with the ones just one floor below where i lived (10th floor).
The white ended where the 10th floor began.

There was no sign of vomit. The only explanation i could give was the paint was really old or lousy grade such that it smells like vomit + paint.

In my usual dirty blue lift, which had a continuing theme of greyish/brownish prints from the lobby of yesterday, I was safe from the disgusting smell. I started wondering why have they painted the lobby? ONLY?

Then i dawned on me that the residents of sembawang GRC finally got a chance to vote this time. Albeit i can see no chances for the opposition for this GRC, 4 members in the party cannot bring you very far. But because a chance to vote means the our dear ministers will be walking around the blocks! Oh no, what will they do if they found out the flats look like squatters/ghettos?
I don't know which link in the government had gone wrong and i don't wish to go into a deep analysis of that.

I wouldn't have felt as bad as i do now if they havent JUST PAINTED THE BLOODY LOBBY and conveniently left out the rest of the floors. Just leave the freaking lobby alone and i won't even have second thought about ur policies, i just count myself unlucky.

The very reason they ONLY painted the stupid bloody lobby can only lead us to infer that, they have some kind of flaws to cover up? Either the lower tier execution officers are afraid that the ministers up there find something out, or there is a problem with the policies.

Does that mean that if on the Nomination Day, my GRC was a walkover, i won't even have the lift lobby painted?

I don't mean to bark at such a small issue, but if you can blow gomez saga into an issue concerning integrity and honesty, can i ask my MP to account for what happened here? The very integrity of the system is in question, worse than an issue of the integrity of a person.

We're paying misc fees every month and it only increases. But every morning, afternoon, evening i find crap in my already low grade lift - pee, rubbish, spit, spilled stuff. The character of singaporeans is in question, so is the cleaning system. Complaints have been made but no improvement seen.

An irritating neighbour on the top most floor has been pouring rubbish water down our kitchen window, everytime another neighbour called the police, no one answer the door. She tried to tell the MP, all she got was the secretary taking down the complaints which cost her 25 dollars everytime. Did she ever saw the MP, i'm not sure. Probably did, because for the first time in my life (i'm 21 this year), my dad told me the MP in charged of our estate came to OUR HOUSE to shook his hands. I only wonder if he'd stayed long enough to listen to all these for the 5 s of shaking hands and distributing of pamphlets. Pieces of paper which tells us PAP knows our NRIC numbers and where we live.

ST may be making a big mistake by flashing how PAP ministers can promise up to 280 million while opposition can only fork out 800,000. (in numbers it looks like that: 280 000 000 vs 800 000) It just make those who are thinking wonder, if it is all GOVERNMENT funds, why one party can promise so much while another one is labelled 'empty promise'?

Have we 'progress' to a stage where party = government? I would really love to try understand the complexity of how the funding works once and for all. That is the question and crux, instead of 'will we get our LUP for free?'

Gonna be quite an emo blog today..
Always get emo when i read other people's blogs..
As i was reading my close friends' blogs, everyone is going through so much, yet i'm always caught up with whatever i'm doin..

Then it seems as if i've left my friendships behind me to chase after certain dreams.. And when i looked back, they aren't there anymore. Or perhaps things wont be the same anymore..

Some have changed somehow, and i guess i just dunnoe this person. Some are less trusting, some have less to tell u, some have gone thru some things which changed them forever..

And i wonder, do they feel the same when they look at me. have i changed so much that they cannot recognised me anymore? Am i someone who stop telling them things because i can't seem to feel the bond to want to tell them anything?

Can i do anything to find that friendship again? The kind of trust that if anything were to happen to me, i'll find someone out there willing to cry with me? The kind of confidence that if anything should happen to him/her, i'll be there no matter what i am doing.

Some of my friends have been disillusioned by what friendship means when they weren't treated with the same degree of commitment they put in.. They devoted themselves too much for friends, and they were hurt.

Friends, something so important yet so dispensible.. So difficult to define yet so necessary.. When you have so many so called friends, but so few whom you really can relate to..

I miss them.. Not because my birthday is near. Not because i'm having a 3 months' break.
I miss those times with them. But those times are gone.. When i see u today, you aren't the you i know that time, i'm no longer the me.

So emo... Must be the weather....
went to chijmes, man u was really a let down. Sorry, pal. They've made too many mistakes to say that they've put up a good fight. The whole sucky episode had to end with wayne rooney hurting himself. Good luck England, he has one month to sleep in the oxygen room to recover, i'm sure the whole of england can afford that.

just read the papers today.. amidst all the election reports that i cannot mention here, i finally saw something that i can and actually want to talk about!!!
I cant remember the exact headline but the report was about how singapore's working adults (23-26) still receive allowance from their parents, (and pretty shamelessly think they're entitled to it...)

I'm not complaining when they talked about singaporean adults living with their parents way pass their 30s. but taking allowance from their parents instead of giving them? That's a little too much for me..

If these KIDS are having problem getting by, unable to pay their bills, their transport, perhaps earning 900 per month, then i probably cannot comment. HOWEVER, they are taking the money, on top of their $1,600, $2,200, $3,300 monthly allowance, to upkeep their LIFESTYLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!! Chanel bags, feragamo(dunno wat is this) shoes. HELLO??? And the best part is, they pay !!! TOKEN SUM!!!! to their parents just so they THINK they are not taking their parents for granted..

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SOCIETY COMING TO!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!
what are the stupid parents doing?!?!?!?!? Are they representing the kind of products our education system churns out year after year??

And check out what the parents say "if i dont give it to them, who am i going to give the money to?" "This way, i feel we are able to bond"...
All i see, is a pathetic attempt at keeping the bond between the parent and the child. After 20 over years of slogging, to give the best to ur child, you've lost the chance to walk with him/her throughout the growing up phrase. You've lost the ability to communicate with ur child and you've lost your child to gucci bags and fendi wallets.

The only way u know, u can is to upkeep that habit of his/hers... Then you still have a hold over him/her, only then you can make sure he/she will still talk to you..

Because you know, once you've lost that hold over them, nothing is stopping them to treat u like an invisible sheet of paper..

Because you know, you haven done your part, to teach them about fillial piety, manners, morals, and all the things important to a person..

Because you know, he/she has grown up to be a machine.. all the hardware, lack of software.

How i love singapore.

2 days before my last paper, i have halt the syllabus waiting for me..

I'm at a lost. Kept telling myself i will be fine as long as i do as much as i can. Tellin myself i can push myself thru this. 2 more days and it'll be heaven..

Now i'm not sure anymore.

Even you have given up hope on me... I guess i'm really beyond hope.
When you walked out, I told myself any emotions can only find me after my exams. I must not fall at this juncture. Still, so much is flooding me at this moment..
I can't handle so much yet i know of no one to turn to.

Before i find the courage in me to plough through this, i will have to deal with absolute loneliness.

Cheers people.

Been a long time since i posted something, tot i'll do it today since i'm a little tipsy.. Just went to a friend's birthday party at MOS.. Kind of gave me some idea of what to write for my blog, rather, i felt something strong enough to be written about..

For the longest time i have been telling people, if ur 'so called friends' can't be bothered with you, then to hell with them. I try to put that into practise myself. But somehow or rather, when people grow older and nearer to the age of 21, they tend to get more naive (though sci still haven figure out how) and they start to open themselves to all kinds of nonsense that they normally wont.
For example, your's truly here, decided to book a chalet for not one, not two but three nights to celebrate her birthday. (the third night is really an innocent mistake)
Hoping that her close friends will stay over for the first night and her juniors can have the chalet for the second, she went ahead happily with the booking. Thinking that all will work out well and fine.
At long last, murphy's law forbids that things should go as they do in ur head. Her 'close friends' started telling her that either they won't be staying or they cannot confirm staying. At this juncture, i should thank the two girls who immediately replied me and told me they'll stay. Because i should conc on who's coming, instead of who's not. Since they cannot 'take the trouble' to stay over, den perhaps they don't deserve the space. (except some who are working full time, like KW who has to fly almost every day...)

Niang niang who gungho-ly told me she'll stay for all the days available. hahahah and dying to play mahjong. Girl, i hope you're glad to know not many people will be competing with you for the table...

Shannon who told me she'll be able to stay on the 27th once i msg her.. Thank you girl, though you seldom can stay out, i appreciate this very much.

For someone who can spend her birthday abroad with no supposed close friends around, i can hardly think of an excuse for myself to be so stupid this time.
I have half the mind cancelling the whole thing. Look, when even your boyfriend ask you is it alright not to go, you've got to start questioning really, "is there something wrong with me?"

21st birthday - is it really important?
Yeap, there's only one 21st, but there's also only one 22nd, 23rd, 24th.... So wat's so special about 21st?

21st is special for me. N only i will know the significance. It means i have stepped into another phrase in my life, i can make decisions legally for myself.
It means i can get married without my parents' approval, go do something that might risk killing myself without a consent form, and work in a lawfirm as an intern without asking my parents to indemnify me.
I am responsible for myself.
I shout out to the whole world, that i can make decisions for myself.

When you are 18, ur decisions are not good enough... Your choice is being queried. You are being lead on.
What if i'm 21 and i still make the same choice?

"Remember, remember...the fifth of November, the Gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the Gunpowder treason ever should be forgot."

Friday, March 10, 2006

Sigh..

Since this is the year that most of my friends turn 21, i got all excited after attending two parties, and decided to start planning my own. Thinking i'll have the kind of treatment that my two elder sisters had, my maternal aunts and uncles gave them Ang baos and celebrated their birthday..
My third aunt, one who has the most say around the house, just told me that if i don't do well this sem, i can forget about celebrating my birthday.
I'm not too sure how to take this.. (not my gemini nature acting up..) I guess on one hand you can say that she has so much confidence in my brains, that even i don't have. Thinking that with some incentive, maybe i'll perform to the fullest potential.
On the other, i just feel.. helpless. I really really don't think i'll be able to do well. It's as if someone is telling me, unless the world is flat, we will celebrate your birthday. But i'm sure she's got my interests at heart. However, using my results as a condition is more depressing than anything.
How can i explain to her, that it is not within my control? (Insert the whining about bad results here)

I can feel myself giving up the struggle. From a law school hopeful to someone who is just trying to stay afloat. I know becoming negative wont help, but i guess i cannot face anymore disappointment. At some point, you let urself down so badly, that you start joking about it. It doesn't necessary mean you have accepted the fact, just means you have given up. Why fight it when the jokes will come anyway.

I still rem how i told paul last sem, that i want to prove to others that i can fight for the good grades... Now, i'm not even participating in class.

It is easy to back out. I told myself, if they don't want to celebrate my 21st, den i'll just have a simple affair. I guess if the verdict is such, i don't even want to celebrate if i miraculously do reasonably do well. Perhaps it's too extreme to say that my happiness is judged by my results, but that's the way i feel..

At the end of the day, i still want to believe if you really put your mind to it, you will be able to do it...

Cheers,
WR

Sore loser Jose Moaninho has voiced his support for Benfica in their CL game against Liverpool tonight.

The true potugeese told the press that he has always been a Benfica fan even though he was with Barcelona before joining Chelsea. He never said this before until his team got kicked out of Champions League. Why? If his english team cannot get through, he doesn't want other english teams to get into the final 8, what sore, spoilt brat, loser.
Without anything to complain about the referee who awarded chelski their last minute penalty, in case this big head team lose too badly and risk getting death threats, our 'special one' decided to continue harping on the first leg. "We haven't seen 11 v 11"... Whole load of BS. If your pitch was in a better condition, even with 12 people, i'm pretty sure Ronaldinho will still kick your sorry A**.

Kaos.. Lose den lose laH! Don't give excuses k!

It's a good day...
Will continue to be one when liverpool wins :D

Waiting for 4 am.... meanwhile, i shall pass my time by doing my tutorial...

It is official, my allergy to Lux-shower cream. (No, not my dropping out of law school, at least not yet...) As soon as i applied it, my left hand started itching. I wonder why medication doesn't act as half as fast?
Anyway, i saw a movie today! Big news, because i haven seen a movie since ... when? i can't rem. Starring Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Cosner - Rumour has it. I particularly like the following conversation.

"I know this isn't the kind of things parents tell their children, but the day your mother came back, we conceived you."
"But you know, dad, i'm so different. I never liked tennis, i drive like a mad person and you drive so slowly!"
"I drive slowly only because you are in the car."
erm, i think at this time i have to explain, Nope, Kevin Cosner did not act as Jennifer's dad... But that's not the point of the conversation...
The conversation, filled with so much love, unconditioned love from a parent to a child. This love, it is without any strings attached, from deep within. So much of it that he has changed his character, his style, because he is afraid that something bad might chance upon his precious girl. This, is the love of a parent, this, is pure love.
Nothing in the world can compare to this, absolutely nothing. It doesn't matter if your parents are chinese, american, english, malay, educated, less educated - they love you the best way they know how...
As bad as you get it outside, you come home and bask in the warmth of their love.

I did something wrong today. I couldn't understand my readings and fell asleep, only waking up when my parents came home in the afternoon. Really bothered by the lack of time and patience, i lost my temper with my mom when she asked me if i was alright. She walked out without a frown and i know she was sad, but she completely understands me. She din flew into a rage and complain why are we always venting our frustration at her. She doesn't come home in the middle of the night and start throwing things around, justifying it by saying 'you guys do it too, why cant i?'. She'll never think about how much we love her but always and will never stop loving us... she always talks about the possibility of leaving once we are independent...

I always wonder why some people value their romantic love more than the love of their parents... Are they even comparable? I don't think i'll ever find a man who can love me like she does, other than my dad, of cos...

With Love,
WR

"The greatest victory to evil, is for the good to do nothing."
This was what my friend told me yesterday, not sure if i got it right but still, very meaningful. My letter to the forum wasn't published, perhaps too minute an issue for the national papers. Kind of disappointed, still i hope i can do something more to help those students. But not being related to the incident anyhow, just makes me a nosey person.
I just wish the parents can stand up for their children, not for the academic achievement but a right that this kids ought to have. To stop being oppressed by the unreasonable demands of the school. Passive parents can only result in passive children. So who do we blame for the indifference in our society?
Disillusioned as i may be, i still think the next generation can be educated correctly. I believe that if we all do our part in educating them, they won't turn out to be like most of us, often wondering if we're just a small pawn in the great economy of Singapore.
I do what i can with my tuition kids. Perhaps they may not be the scholars of their batch, but i'd like to think that at least i'm a positive influence in their lives, teaching them about choices, etc.
Sigh. Bleak...

WR

Thank you for writing to us. We do appreciate your making the effort.

We receive 70 letters on average each day. Limited space means we can publish only about a dozen every weekday.

i guess i will spend my morning writing a letter to the forum for my aunt's student.
hMmmm

I'll write my draft here.. actually, since it doesn't concern me, i have no idea how to write LOL. But it is about education, so i shall try...

MOE Policy regarding student's choice of subject
I am writing regarding the policy of one particular boys' school in Bishan which requires students, who had done relatively well for normal chinese, to drop their higher chinese and concentrate on getting distinction for the former subject. I would like to know if the MOE allows for such imposition.
The student in question had obtained a B3 for his O' Level Mother Tongue, hence his parents and him believe that he will do relatively well for his Higher Chinese. This is important for his aggregate scores because he will be allowed to deduct two points so long as he passes his Higher Mother Tongue.
However, it has been told to them that those who did not achieve a distinction for their Mother Tongue must drop their places in Higher Mother Tongue. This, in fact, has robbed the students their choices and possibly a fighting chance to their dream schools.
I can understand that the school wishes the students to do well in the basic subject before taking on a seemingly more advance course. However, as a student myself, i believe that these students should be given a choice, instead of imposing it on them. Moreover, this student and i'm sure many others are well capable of securing the 2 points deduction, which can make a difference to their scores.

By imposing such policy on students, it is questionable the direction the school is taking. It seems that the school has ignored the individual element, instead, only interested in achieving a seemless track record for itself. Aren't schools suppose to be nurturing thinking students who can make choices for themselves? In order to train responsible citizens we ought to allow students to make their own choices.

I sincerely hope MOE will look into this matter as soon as possible to give these students a justified answer.

This NYP sex scandal thing has been going around a few days. Initially, i thought there were too many people talking about it and i kind of pity the girl, hence i din plan on talking about it here. But i just read about her telling the papers that she didn't think she did anything wrong. And i decided to pen my two cents worth here, before i start my trust paper, to get my brain juice flowing.

Well, like i told my uncle, there is nothing morally or legally wrong with taking nude, sex videos for own viewing. Both consenting adults (or rather, capable of consenting in the eyes of law) involved, for watever reason they took it is besides the point.
Nothing wrong definitely, but down right stupid.
1) "It is nothing wrong because everyone is doing it"
Like what my uncle used to tell me when i was younger "Everyone goes and jump down, you jump down also?" This episode is very telling of the sense of right and wrong that teenages (or even youth, the guy is 21) have. If everyone does it, then it must be right. Or rather, if i do it, i shouldn't be deemed as doing a wrong thing.
Whatever happened to principles? To moral values? The line isn't drawn by each individual, but by others.

2) If you want to video ur bed scenes, keep it properly, securely.(if you don't intend to be a porn star)
I'm sure the january Straits Times made it pretty clear how many mobile fones Singapore lose in a year. I believe 22 phones are lost a day. (but to be frank, i don't think cheerleaders read the papers very much..hahah, tt's just me talking.) K, i don't think teenagers nowadays read the papers very much. Hence, if you wish to take something so private, and keep it so, you should have uploaded to a laptop and save it in a CD or even DVD. How much memory can a hp have, seriously? Unless as my uncle suggest, u wanna watch it everywhere u go or show it to your friends?
Paul made a very valid point that no one expects to lose their fones, which i entirely agree.
But everyone knows there is a possibility of losing fones.(when it is getting smaller and smaller everyday) You don't have to expect to lose a fone to secure such information, if that information is so private and important to you
Even if you don't expect to lose ur fone, you risk having friends picking up ur fone to play with. I say this with the assumption that that person in question has not showed her friends the video (which of cos, we are assuming it is for private entertainment).

3) Her fone was stolen, the videos uploaded on the internet.
Logically speaking, if you can 'forget' about having a sex video on ur fone, then probably your friends have all watched it. So, words probably have gotten out that you have such a video. Hence, someone intended to steal it in order to humiliate you publicly (perhaps internationally)
So if we trace this back, are we back to the stupid argument? or something more? On the evening news, it was reported that many JC students have taken nude pictures of themselves and their partners in order to show their friends. It was considered 'hip' and 'cool' and of cos, everyone was doing it (which in teenish, means 'right') In this sense, i'm not too sure if it was merely stupid, or simply vain and wanting to be 'trendy'. It can even be peer pressure. to quote a friend of mine, some of this videos 'it is obvious that these girls are performing for the camera'. All these seem to point to the direction of 'showing off' rather than private consumption.

There is nothing wrong with being stupid. It is lawful to be stupid. In fact, people like to know you're stupid. You don't go to jail, you just go on the headlines.

With all due respect,
Wenrong

hahaaahah!!!
It must be a good day today!!!!
Barca won the first leg in Champions League first knock out round agains the Blue 2-1, at Chelsea's 'potato field'!!!!
Although there was one own goal each from the two teams, Eto'o gave the visitors the edge 10 mins before the game was over...
hahahahha
THE BEST PART:
Chelsea's Del Horno was sent off after tackling the unstoppable Messi. Soccernet termed it as a 'mistimed tackle' which did not justify a red card. But the Argentinian 'rolled in the mud and the Barca players reacted as if he has been murdered'.
I would have stand up for any other team if they were penalised for such play acting, but i have to say this:
CHELSEA DESERVES IT!!!! muahahahhahhaha
To think that mourinho had the cheek to warn his players of Barcelona's players' acting skills. His own Robben is an Oscar winner himself.

And let's not even get to the state of the field. mourinho actually said that pretty people may not be intelligent, ugly might not mean stupid to explain the state of his field!! Friend, ugliness don't affect the intelligence, but i'm pretty sure a bare field will affect the play on the field. What kind of lousy comparison is this?

WooHoo!! and the underdog, Arsenal won Real Madrid 1-0 as visitor!!!! Nothing against Real but with so many super stars but you cant stop Thiery Henry and a team of young players... Shows that money cannot buy everything in the world!!! YEahhhhh
Way to go!

Muahahahah this is a good day to start my trust assignment. :p
Btw, even thou Liverpool lost 1-0 to Benfica in the first leg, i'm sure we'll get it back!!!!

Sunday, February 19, 2006

wooHoo!!! Start of my term break!!!! Guess what? I have two assignments due by the end of this one week break... from two 8 credits module. I'd rather not have the break...

argh.
I'm still stuck with my consti law assignment.. i have no idea what to write. But i'll try. Sigh. I think i feel defeated right from the time i read the question, totally no confidence in tackling this. I guess this is the effect of getting too many Cs - in the end you start to question your abilities from the beginning. Puiz.

No life.
My friends have been trying to ask me out a few times... I have no choice but to turn them down. Tuitions, assignments, tutorial, never ending. So many things that you stop doing them, stop wanting to finish them and just watch TV...

Gotta write my resume soon, i don't want to end up like last year, missing the deadline and then do nothing constructive for the rest of my holidays (as much as i want to do that)

I'm just so lazy that sometimes i am amazed at my own laziness. Not hardworking and meticulous enough. i wonder what kind of job can i do nex time... Clean toilet mayb.. dunnid to be too meticulous for that.

Argh... I need to change!!!!!!!!!
HOW?

"I know I have not won against them since coming here and I am being told we haven't beaten them in the FA Cup for 85 years. That has surprised me but it is time to change all those statistics," Rafael said.

Chee On Judicial Independence- another bankruptcy of opposition in Singapore

I've read it but as usual, failed to impress me. Anyhow, people should read it to judge for themselves.
A piece of article, if charged with so much emotions, is difficult to have any academic value. Many examples, many quotes but somehow, it failed to point how what kind of role does judiciary play as part of the three arms of government. Secondly, the piece fail to take into consideration the good of our judicial system, which will definitely be brought up if PAP were to reply to this article(IF).
The worst argument is by bringing up quotes from organisations in other countries. We dont really give two hoots about what other liberal democratics say about our system, don't he understand that by now?
What does the law say? What does the Constitution say? What does the normal practice say? What is wrong with having no lawyer to represent you? I believe if he lists these out instead, he would have gotten more empathy from Singaporeans instead of quoting the ang mohs.

Well, by publishing this, as someone has said, he must have thought that once he is bankrupt, they no longer can punish him for what he says. That's probably why he cc this to MM Lee. What is his point? Is he telling others how bias the judiciary is? Is he complaining?

I cant help but draw an analogy to a situation of a rebellious child, who'd do anything just to upset his parents.
By losing the suit, he has lost all credibility EVEN if it did not cost him his eligibility to stand for elections. Now with this letter, he seems to be 'getting back' at MM Lee and SM Goh, like a child shouting "Na Na Nee Poo Poo!!! IS this all you can do?" He is saying that, "now that i'm a bankrupt, i can write about anything and you can't get to me anymore!" It is true to the extend of physical possessions. But his own letter has also taken away any respect anyone can possibly have towards him (if any) as an opposition fighting for political democracy in Singapore for so long. His fight has slowly deteriorated to a personal grudge against the incumbent party, losing his objectivity and his focus on democracy for Singaporeans.
Which brings me to ask whether is he really working towards political democracy or demolishing it? Such act only further impresses upon us, the electorate, on how immature and incredible the opposition is, collectively.
Is he really pushing for democracy or pushing it futher from us?
If oppositions wanna survive in Singapore, better pay Chee and ask him to get out of politics, before all of us lose faith in opposition.

Anyway, enough about politics. I've been meaning to talk about my personal sensitive issue, about being a supporter of Liverpool FC. Because one of my friend actually accused me of being a Liverpool supporter because of Paul. Here i'd like to clarify.
No doubt i started watching liverpool matches because of Paul, but back then, i watched as a very neutral and objective onlooker. I slowly picked up names of players.
I was exceptionally sad when Liverpool lost to Bolton 2-0, that was when i realised i could be a fan. They're fighting spirit was impressive, nice passes. It was most disappointing because the two goals conceded were rather accidental.
Even before that, i felt that Rafael was a really different manager whom seldom diss other teams (thus far, i've only seen one such report of him being sacarstic). His faith in his players is really strong, especially when Crouch wasn't scoring at first. He is really humble, hardworking and caring manager, unlike other big headed ones from other clubs.
The more reports i read about liverpool and their fans, the more i like the club. How the fans loved Rafael even before he showed any results, cheering for him when they spotted him in the bar. How the team work so hard despite their losing streak.

I was pissed to be called a proxy supporter. Because it doesn't speak very much of me. Paul did taught me what i got to know about liverpool. But trust me, if they were anything like the blue team, i wouldn't waste my time watching their game. To me, to be called a proxy supporter for liverpool is an insult. Not only does it suggest i don't have a mind of my own, i cannot judge for myself, it actually shows how little people think of me. It also speaks of being a soccer fan is a man's right, a woman can only be a proxy fan.
I understands how my friend felt. A lady, who cant pronounce liverpool's manager's name properly, cant be a serious fan. A lady, who doesn't wake up at 4am in the morning to watch Liverpool vs Charlton, cant be a serious fan. A lady, who dint give two hoots about soccer a few months ago, cannot be a serious fan overnight. She is just a proxy fan, claiming to be a know-it-all after watching 2 months of soccer, defending weakly this team she hardly knows from two other Man-u fans. What does she know about soccer compared to us who have watched and played soccer all our lives?
Just for information, I am a fan but not a lunatic. I have lesson 10 am in the morning, having to wake up at 630am, i don't think i should be watching a match at 4am. Just because i'm rational doesn't make me any less supportive. I did check the scores first thing i turned on my computer in the morning.

I'm not trying to prove anything and if ever my friend sees this, i just want to say that i did not confront you there and then is because i know i wont be able to out talk you. But the point is not out-talking each other. It is to realise and accept that soccer talk is not just the men's right. Perhaps not a full fletch soccer fan because i don't watch every match, but i do try to read up on what i like.

Cheers!

I've got so many things to talk about, wonder if i have the time, or the patience to write about all of them: My latest public law reading: Independence of Judiciary in Singapore; The Danish Cartoon outrage; and on a more personal level, the attack on the reason why i support liverpool. All very sensitive issues, on many different levels, national, inter-national, and personal. But don't expect too much from this post, because i'm in a rush for time (Going back to my very exciting, illuminating, yet depressing public law readings). :p

Independence of Judiciary in Singapore
Many who have attempted to smear the independence of judiciary have been taken to court for contempt and i have full awareness that by writing about this, i am threading on thin ice. Hence, i shall write my disclaimer once again, and change the style of writing today, which i doubt will be of much help.
---------------------------------------------------
Disclaimer: Even after all my public readings, i am a supporter of a competent government, which we obviously have today. Being an advocate for my political awareness does not make me anti-PAP. Readers will draw their own conclusions from what i'm about to write, and i will do my utmost to include the citations, just in case i am sue for making these things up.
---------------------------------------------------
Judiciary is the third arm of the government, separated from the executive and legislative, in order to provide adequate check and balances within the government. To uphold the Rule of Law - a law that ought to be regular and upholds equality (diceyian concept).
In Singapore, the judiciary has two responsibilities: 1)A review of unconstitutionality of laws / acts of executives and 2) A guardian of fundamental rights of individuals, Part IV of the Constitution . These two duties necessarily mean that judiciary is a check on the executive, limiting their 'untrammelled power'. With such a great and difficult duty to discharge, especially since it is against the executive, one would expect the appointment of judges to steer away from the influence of the Executive. However, the fact of the matter is that:
Art 95(1)of the constitution- the CJ, the Judges of Appeal and Judges of the High Court shall be appointed by the President if he, acting in his discretion, concurs with the advice of the Prime Minister.
This same article is applicable to the appointment of High Court judge, Court of Appeal Judge and Judicial commissioner.
The PM shall consult CJ, other than for the appointment of CJ under clause 1.
No doubt, the presence of the Elected President and CJ can outweigh the inclusion of the head of the Executive. However, "these other participants in the appointment process have a potentially small part in the final say as to who should be appointed to the Judiciary." (Michael Hor, "The Independence of the Criminal Justice System in SIngapore", SJLS [2002] 497-513)

Appointment aside, Tenure of the judges will guarantee them their job even if they rule against the incumbent government. Art 98 provides for the Tenure of office of Judges of Supreme Court (higher court)
(1)- Judges of SC shall hold office until he attains the age of 65
judges past the age of 65 'tend to be hired as contract judges for a certain number of years' (Thio Li-Ann, "Lex Rex or Rex Lex", (Pacific Basin Law Journal)20, 2002, Pg 21) These contracts are not extended automatically. According to Francis Seow, "the contracts are renewable at the will of the Prime Minister, is not conducive to judicial independence" ("The Singapore Puzzle, at 116). (I cannot find the profile, age of the high court judges of today, due to my incompetence. All i could find is list of pictures and names of these judges.)
Hence, There is no conclusive evidence that the high court today is filled with contracted judges passed their retirement age, which can influence their decisions on government related cases.
But it is undeniable that such a practice raises suspicion where the succession rate of administrative actions against the government is low, thou not unknown of (Re Fong Tin Choo, [1992] 1 SLR 120). Even though Such low rates, on itself is, again, not conclusive that judiciary independence is lacking. It does not necessarily draw the link, because it may be because there is high prosecutorial efficiency, in bringing only the guilty to the court (Michael Hor). Thus the judges, who are impartial have little choice but to convict, or to rule in the government's favour.

To judge on these different factors independently of the others, it seems that we have a very good system of independent judiciary to protect the individuals, and safeguard the democratic system. However, it is noteworthy that conclusion should not be drawn studying on the factors alone. All of them constitute a bigger picture. Appointment largely influenced by the head of executive; provisions of tenure allows discretion of the executive. There is an inevitable pattern. The judiciary system in Singapore thread in the grey area of neither wholly independent nor dependent. On the face value, there are beautiful safeguards to prevent too much interference by the executive. But during enforcement, what is actually happening when these provisions are executed?
One e.g. to illustrate this:
The president, CJ will balance the weightage of PM's say in the appointment of Supreme Court judges on the face value of the provisions.
Elected Presidency Institution is itself a young institution, yet to developed into a strong veto power it supposedly should possess.
CJ, is appointed by the President, but again, with the advice of the PM.

All these evidence seems to be reinforcing a point, that there is executive influence in every turn of the checks, meant to be exercised on the Executive.

I am not advocating to abolish all these provisions, i.e. that judges retire at the age of 65 regardless of whether there is any competent successor. As a Singaporean, i do not wish to have chaos. Neither do i want to see an over powering judiciary which checks on every trivial matter involving the Executive. That is an extreme I don't wish to see either.
All will be fine with the present system, as long as we are able to trust and have competent people in the executive. But just as PAP said that multi-racial peace in Singapore cannot be ensured in the future, we cannot be sure that the incumbent party will always have and be filled with honourable men.

The post is meant to be as neutral i can ever be on politics. But like what Prof Thio mentioned in class "how can one talks about politics without being political?"

Sorry, think i spent too much time on this that my other two posts will be postponed to some other time...

Cheers!

Doubt i'll be able to watch the match tml morning, i have lesson at 10am.. don't think my tutor will appreciate a student nodding off in his class, after going late for lesson last week... Oh well, Good luck livepool! :D

Just had a taste of how is it like to have two tuition assignments back to back. I think i'm starting to learn how to treasure my time a lil more (not considering my time spent on this blog). I rested and finished most of my tutorial, although i only jotted down the main ideas.. I hope i can keep up and maybe do better.. Right now my mind can only think of the new episode of Desperate Housewives that i've d/l. FOCUS girl!!!

I saw the picture of YJ jogathorn of myself. I really look fat like anything. I think i look fatter than what i used to be. Sigh. that's actually qt devastating. Guess that explains the crunches and sit-ups i was doing before the new post page loaded up. Anyhow, i will try my best to become what i used to me. Sigh...

Feel like sleeping already. Doesn't feel like a mid-week.. think too little work. Probably because i'm trying to block out the thought of the various assignments that are due really soon. Head in the sand... "they're not there. they're not there. they're not there..."
Argh

Hardwork is just not for me man.

Sigh, nothing much to post. Din read papers today because i kept thinking my lesson is at 10, so i had to leave home by 830. Which was the time that i woke up... And the clever me took a cab to sch!!! and found out at the entrance of law fac that my lesson is at 12, that leaves me with 2 and a half hours to eat breakfast...

Sitting in Biz Canteen is not very inspiring so i don't think i'll have much to say on my blog.
Was reading Shaun's blog and he's on sexual freedom again, or tt's how i understand it. LOL Some student wrote in to Forum yesterday or a day ago saying the organisation that gave them the 'sex talk' was discouraging the use of condoms because it was not effective in preventing STD or diseases transmitted by sexual intercourse. Reason being, the virus is much smaller than the pore on the condom.
So this parent wrote in today, saying he is relief that there are organisation highlighting the limitations of condoms, that as a parent, he would like his kids to be protected from the scheming manufacturers who care about nothing but profits...

I don't feel very strongly about this issue, so my post will probably wont be a very intellectual piece.

Well, for a start, i don't think that we can reverse the workings of westernisation in the country. The younger generation has access to diverse and volumous infomation in their daily lives, through the internet, tv, papers, magz, etc. Many articles, advertisements, tv programmes uses the topic of sex to sell, or to increase viewership. However, before we start pointing finger at the mass media, ans one simple question, is this young generation a bunch which cannot think for themselves?
If your answer is no, these people can think for themselves, then you should leave it up to them to make the decision. To the parents whose children are of legal age, your children have the right to choose and all you can do as a parent, is to help them make INFORMED decision. Like telling them the possible consequences of certain things that they do, but you cannot MAKE that decision for them. Most definitely, telling them that condom doesn't work against STD seems to be contrary to what i see on posters in hospitals. What am i to believe? Hospital posters or a religion related organisation?

And for those parents whose kids are still young, it is your job to inculcate in them the importance of the decisions they make in life, sex education even though you're afraid of opening the door. The more you try to shun from it, the more mysterious the topic will seem to them and the more they'll try to find out. Parents can't seem to understand that very much.

Of cos, i don't advocate free and easy sexual relationship, where a person can have as many sexual partners as they wish. I believe that it is sometime intimate which cannot be done with any person of the opposite sex that one see. I believe that as long as my children understand this point and know how to protect themselves, my job is done.

Perhaps i'm not qualified to say this, because i've yet to have my own children. But anyway, i always believe that
it matters not what is taught, what matters is that which is learnt.

Yawnz.. another hour to go...
sigh

"I'm in a hurry and I must go to the hospital to see how Robben is, he could be in hospital for a week," commented Benitez.

The man is angry and sacarstic. And i'm totally behind him!!! I guess this is the first time he lose it after a match. and for good reason.
Way to go!

Well, i don't know but i think there should be defence of Provocation on the field and it'll fit this case perfectly.
Supposed to be eating my lunch right now, but i had to check out liverpool website after the 2-0 defeat to Chealsea this morning...
I have to say i'm pretty disappointed with the scores, since liverpool dominated the match. It was most frustrating when all you lack is the person who find the net. The first goal that was conceded was completely unnecessary. Only Reina and another two defenders were left in front of the goalpost while everyone else rush towards the ball. It was a very serious mistake in my very amatuer view. Like Rio in the match against Man U, William Gallas was lucky to be at the right place at the right time, which btw, added to my frustration.
The second goal, scored by Crespo, was clearly an offside to me but liverpool's official website said "Crespo beat the offside trap"... Arhhhhhhhhhhh
Thou Reina was disappointing this morning, he din deserve the red card. But he should have gotten a grip of himself instead of 'touching Robben' (quote Benitez) Liverpool is appealing against the decision, otherwise, Liverpool will be playing without Reina for the next few matches against Charlton, Wigan and Arsenal. Bearing in mind that Charlton had force a draw on Chealsea (thou i din catch the match). Personally, i can't stand Robben and cannot appreciate how Chealsea players conducted themselves this morning. I know many pple hate the Team but i din know they can have such effect on first time viewers of their game. Their play was not just rough and lack of style, i have a sneaky suspicion they deliberately left the pitch bare. Because obviously, they would have been used to playing on such substandard pitch. It will only be to the visitors disadvantage, much disadvantage. I'm sure the tycoon who can pay players 100 over millions PER WEEK can afford to do up the pitch of his team's homeground. People dont pay 45 pounds per tkt to such dilapitated stadium!!!!

As all of you can see, i'm pretty worked up by the stupid blue team. Please do not mention their name in front of me, because i don't know what i'll do. I don't know who in the right mind will support such a team. Oh, i forgot, those people who don't watch the matches?

WR
